AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: Consider your tattoo an open wound and treat it as such.
ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY PRIOR TO CLEANING YOUR TATTOO.

DAY 1: You will leave the studio with your tattoo bandaged in Dri-Lok bandaging. Slowly and carefully remove the bandage 2-3 hours after the tattoo has been dressed. Immediately after removing the dressing, wash the tattoo gently with warm water and a non-scented antibacterial soap using CLEAN fingers/palms. DO NOT re-bandage the tattoo.

DAY 2: For the first two days your skin will still be open and prone to infection. These are the most critical days to be sure your tattoo stays VERY clean. Wash the tattoo morning & night, and as needed, but not more than 5 times a day. Allow the tattoo to air dry.

DAY 3: Your tattoo should begin to dry out and flake. From this point on, hydrate the tattoo using Platinum Rose on the area. Repeat hydration 1-2 times a day or as needed. Repeat this until the tattoo is completely healed.

DON’TS

DO NOT use a washcloth, loofah or any abrasive material over the tattoo for the duration of its healing time
DO NOT expose your tattoo to sunlight or artificial UV rays. Sunbathing and suntanning is not recommended. Your tattoo is an open wound and is not protected, so it will be sensitive to UV rays. The UV rays can also affect the healing process by discoloration, burning, peeling, etc.
DO NOT submerge your tattoo into any water, which includes but is not limited to: stagnant bodies of water, bath water, hot tubs, lake water, the ocean, rivers, etc.
DO NOT apply makeup or any special scented lotions, soaps, oils, patchouli, etc. onto or around your healing tattoo
DO NOT dye your hair while you have a healing tattoo ANYWHERE on your body.
DO NOT wear tight clothing over the tattoo. You must allow your tattoo to breath.
Avoid your tattoo making contact with high traffic surfaces such as counter tops, benches/chairs, doors, carpet, etc. If your tattoo comes in contact with anything that may carry bacteria, immediately wash your tattoo with antibacterial soap and warm water. If you do not wash it immediately, this can cause an adverse reaction or an infection.
DO NOT allow your pet to touch, rub against, lay, lick, paw or breathe on your tattoo. Remember, your tattoo is an open wound.
Your tattoo may start to itch during the healing process due to the flaking. DO NOT scratch, pick or rub your healing tattoo. This can adversely affect the tattoo by scarring, ink removal, or other damage to the tattoo, including infection.

DO’S

DO take EXTREME care of your tattoo. The majority of issues after getting a tattoo are caused by the quality of tattoo care during the healing process. The healing process takes only a few weeks but a tattoo is forever. If you don’t care for your tattoo during the healing process, it can cost you even more in the future to get it fixed, covered up or removed through tattoo removal (which is MUCH more painful).
Always wear CLEAN clothing over your fresh tattoo
Ensure that your tattoo only comes in contact with CLEAN bedding and furniture
DO use the aftercare products recommended by our tattoo professionals. Tattoo aftercare products are specifically made for and tested on tattoos. They do not include ingredients that will adversely affect the outcome of your healing tattoo.
DO use a thin layer of ointment on your tattoo, so that your tattoo can still breath and heal properly.
